If you’re a regular CubCast listener, as you should be, you know we’ve had quite a few episodes about getting ready for the new Cub Scouting program. Have you ever found yourself asking, “What does Scouting mean by ‘building character’?” Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, is conducting a study on how the Cub Scouting program instills kids with positive characteristics that may differ from other youth programs. This study is seeking to understand the impact that Scouting has on the development of character in the Cradle of Liberty Council in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dan Warren, a doctoral student of child study and human development at Tufts University and one of the researchers on that study, joins us for an enlightening discussion. Join us, won’t you?
